Roland Printer Maintenance - The same old response… Let’s fix it!!

Upon arrival on site I always have a routine…(This is KEY to this blog post)

Providing the Roland printer is electronically sound, I do a nozzle print, this gives me an idea where I’m starting at, it covers my back for quality issues after I’ve completed my work and gives a reference point.

Once this is complete I remove the covers have a quick look around and ask two very important questions…

1. When was the printer last serviced by an engineer?

Majority of the time I get the same response, “ohh it wasn’t that long ago”. It generally, (when they check) is way past the recommended 12 month period that Roland advise.

2. How often do you do your general maintenance / cleaning?

This is the killer one that makes me smile, “ohh, yes, we do it every week”. Believe me when I say, we (the engineers) already know that you don’t do it very often by looking in the machine so don’t fib 😂.

We’re not there to criticise your maintenance, the printer is your property and you can run it as you choose, we are just trying to figure out a starting point to get you back up and running as efficiently as possible.

After having a laugh and a joke about their little fib, I ask if they are confident in doing the process of maintaining the printer. You would be astonished by the number of people that reply with “no, we have never been shown how to do it and didn’t want to damage the printhead, captop, etc…”

If this is the case with you, please feel free to reach out to us for guidance. Generally it only takes around ten minutes if you keep on top of it and it’s actually a really easy process.

We can supply you with all the necessary consumables you may require to complete this weekly task, including cleaning swabs, cleaning solution, gloves and lint free cloths. We also supply genuine Roland parts that are in stock ready to ship around the UK if you are an experienced user that does your own Roland servicing.

For any more info or guidance please feel free to contact us via the contact us page.

I hope this post has helped you in some way feel more confident getting hands on with your printer.
